Local To Local, Globally
We work on an ethos of local to local globally. This means we support both small local businesses in India and our own local economy in West Cork.
We have ethical pricing, we pay our craftspeople a fair price and sell to you at a fair price, and because we buy directly from the source we know there are no big factories involved and quality is guaranteed.
A closer look at the Mosaic Glass Lamp
The glass lamps are made by sticking hundreds of tiny pieces of coloured glass on to a clear glass shape – either “mushroom” or “purse” – to create beautiful patterns. Once the patterns are created the lamp is plastered over and then cleaned carefully to reveal only the coloured mosaics. The lamps come in three sizes – small, medium and large. Each lamp is unique, even within the patterns as they are individually crafted.
A closer look at the Jaipur Blue Pottery
Each piece is made in a long process. Quartz powder is kneaded into a dough, then molded and sun-baked to harden enough to be hand painted, then dip glazed and single fired in a big wood-fire kiln. The quartz powder makes the pieces very light and bright compared to clay.
Bespoke Teak Furniture
Solid teak furniture, handcrafted in India. Each piece of teak furniture is individual and has a story to tell. We stock a range of solid old teak pieces ranging from traditional damchiya (wedding dowry chest) to cupboards to wall cabinets, chairs, table and benches. These pieces are either original antiques or beautifully restored/refurbished or replicas made using traditional techniques. Each is a statement piece for any home.
Ram Gopal Pottery in Jaipur
Gopal Saini is a world renowned expert in Jaipur Blue Pottery. He has worked tirelessly to preserve and promote this ancient art form and we are fortunate enough to have a small bespoke collection from his pottery including one or two very special pieces by the man himself and his up and coming talented daughter Garima
